our program

Through the app we built, mentees are connected to near-peer mentors who guide reflection and action in college/career preparation, self-discovery, and even mental health. We empower our mentees and mentors with confidence, connection, and tools to be successful and well.

Using the Reflection-Action cycle creates an upward spiral of growth, learning, and success.

  • Our mentees are youth aged 13-21 motivated to be successful and well.

Middle school, high school, and college students can sign up and be connected to our mentors.

  • Our mentors are typically college-aged students from several places and in different careers. Our mentors are currently in 3 countries and 14 US states! Our mentors find out about us through online marketing and word of mouth, and they eager to give back!

All of our mentors complete an application, interview, criminal and sex offender background check, QPR training for suicide prevention, and a three-hour group orientation covering 11 modules, including being a mentor, how to guide reflection and action, and the neuroscience behind our program. Mentors also sign and abide by our Mentor Agreement.

  • No, our mentors are not mental health professionals. They are meant to be a layer of support between current resources and professional services. We are designed to help students achieve success holistically, which almost always includes conversations with our mentors around mental health and balance.

If a mentee needs more than what our mentors can provide, we have multiple professional partners we can connect the mentee to, so that they have the support they need.

  • Yes! Our current funding by grants, donations, and prizes allows us to offer our program free to all participants.

  • We conduct research that is approved by the Montana State University Institutional Review Board (IRB) to evaluate our impact.

Our research includes surveys at the beginning and end of the program to measure improvements in confidence, connection, resilience, and mental health. We supplement the survey data with app data and qualitative interviews.

Our primary metrics for impact are the number of individuals served and the number of individuals feeling more successful and well by being part of the program.
